Happy Birthday Kate!

Kate is officially 6 years old! For some reason or another, Kate's birthday always lands on another family event, such as a funeral or a wedding, and so we've never had a "real" party. To make up for it, this year we set out to make her birthday special. It turned into somewhat of a week long extravaganza!

Dad had to travel to Moab last week, and was so sad to miss Kate's Wednesday birthday. Kate decided to open presents Sunday evening before he left so he could be there. Emmy fell asleep before we got started, but Ryenne did a great job of wrapping and decorating each of Kate's gifts! Kate was thrilled with her Little Pet Shop figures and "Go Fish" game!

June 25 was the official big day! Kate requested cornflakes for breakfast! Ryenne woke up extra early to work on Kate's present. She gathered up a few of her things that she thought Kate would enjoy and wrapped them up for her in a blanket and ribbon so she could have something to open on her big day. Kate loved it.That afternoon, we headed to swimming lessons with Aunt Kerri, and then up to Mantua Reservoir to hang out at the beach for the evening. The girls and I had a great time swimming, and even saw lots of little fish! (Emmy wasn't so sure about that!) Grandma and Grandpa Croney met us there later on and brought some yummy dinner and a pie to celebrate the special day. Thanks Grandma & Bop! The highlight of the day was Grandma & Bop's present for Kate (Bop took special care picking out this gift!) Kate was ecstatic to open her very own Harley Davison helmet to wear on her rides with Bop. Nothing could have made this Harley girl happier!
Kate planned quite a party for Friday night when Dad got home. She and Ryenne made invitations to send to all of the cousins for a fun water party in our backyard. It turned out to be perfect weather, and the kids had a great time! They had a ball with the kiddie pool, sprinklers, and of course, water guns and balloons! To top it all off, Kate wanted to roast s'mores instead of having a birthday cake! What a fun night! We love Kate and are so happy she's part of our family. We couldn't imagine life without our Katerbugs!
